Who is this seminar for?
You take responsibility for the test activities in a project – as a test manager, test coordinator, QA lead or project manager with a QA remit. You want to master the formal tasks around test strategy, test planning and risk orientation, and qualify for the internationally recognised certification.
Prerequisites
For the certification exam, ISTQB® requires the Foundation Level certificate. Syllabus 3.0 strongly recommends a minimum of practical experience in addition – around six months as a tester or software developer. The seminar content builds directly on the Foundation Level knowledge.
Content per syllabus 3.0
- Managing the test activities: the test process with planning, monitoring, control and completion activities; the context of testing with test stakeholders, hybrid development models, test levels and test types
- Risk-based testing: testing as a risk mitigation activity, identifying, assessing and mitigating quality risks through suitable testing, techniques for risk-based testing
- Test strategy for the project: selecting a test approach and defining test objectives
- Test process improvement: the IDEAL approach, model-based improvement (TMMi®, TPI NEXT®), analytics-based approaches and retrospectives
- Test tools: best practices for tool introduction, technical and business selection criteria, ROI assessment, tool life cycle and tool metrics
- Managing the product: test metrics and test reporting, test estimation with its influencing factors and estimation techniques, defect management – including cross-functional and agile teams
- Managing the team: skill areas within the test team, analysing, assessing and developing team skills, management skills and motivation, stakeholder relationships and cost of quality
What's in it for you?
You plan test activities so that they prioritise risks consistently, estimate effort reliably and report transparently to stakeholders. You lead your test team professionally and know the key levers for advancing your organisation's test process measurably. Once you pass the exam, you are internationally recognised as an ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level – Test Management.
