ISTQB® CT – Testing with Generative AI

Who is this seminar for?

You work as a tester, test manager, test automation engineer or QA lead and want to understand how generative AI can be integrated into your day-to-day testing in a useful and audit-ready way. Prior knowledge of software testing (at least at Foundation Level) is helpful, but not a formal entry requirement.

Prerequisites

For the ISTQB® certification exam, the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate is mandatory – without this proof you cannot register for the exam. It is not strictly required in order to attend the seminar itself, but it is strongly recommended. Programming skills are not required; a basic understanding of AI concepts makes it easier to get started.

Syllabus contents

• Fundamentals of generative AI: how large language models work, prompt engineering, hallucinations, determinism
• Application areas in software testing: requirements analysis, test case derivation, test data generation, test automation scripts, reviews, documentation
• Quality and risks of GenAI output: bias, data protection, intellectual property, plausibility checks, verification
• Prompt design for testers: structured prompts, context windows, few-shot patterns, reproducibility
• Testing AI-based systems: the specifics of testing ML-/LLM-driven applications, the test oracle problem
• Governance & compliance: EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, internal guidelines for GenAI use in QA processes
• Hands-on exercises: prompt catalogs, evaluating tool output, building a reusable GenAI library within the test team
